Radici means‏ 'roots' in Italian, which signifies the producer's devotion to safeguarding the indigenous varieties of ancient Irpinia. Straw yellow w/ aromas of pear, pineapple, acacia, toasted nut, honey & spring flowers. Excellent acidity, fine smoothness w/ a nutty, bitter almond finish.

2010 Pallagrello Bianco "Le Serole", Terre del Principe, Campania

Pallagrello Bianco is a white grape variety native to Campania. It was all but unknown until reintroduced to commercial viticulture by winemaker Peppe Mancini in the early 90's. San calisto is valle reale's flagship wine. This muscular yet refined red is made from 100% montepulciano grown in the san calisto parcel, the oldest plot in the valle reale estate. This special vineyard is located in one of Italy's most beautiful national parks, surrounded by the majestic gran sasso mountain range. Here, he vines benefit from the high elevation, a wide diurnal temperature range, lots of cool, breezy ventilation & limestone rich soils. Deep, ruby-red in color, san calisto offers layered aromas of ripe blackberries & crushed black cherries, followed by spicy notes of cassis, leather & Mediterranean wildflowers. 1999 Mastroberadino Taurasi Radici Riserva, Campania

Mastroberardino is campania's most recognized winery, established in the 1750s by winemaker pietro di mastro berardino. Today, 10 generations later, the estate is still under the directionof the mastroberadino family. Located in the town of altripalda, in the ancient region ofIrpinia, this family-based firm has long championed the indigenous varieties of this region, none more famous than the taurasi, campania‘s first DOCG designated appellation. Made from 100% aglianico grapes, deep ruby red in color, this wine gives off a full, complex & intense bouquet redolent of tobacco, cherry, violet & berries. The radici taurasi riserva is enveloping, elegant & persistent, w/ background notes of plum, bitter cherry, strawberry jam & black pepper. This wine is meant to live for years & we are so happy to have this older vintage available to us.

2005 Montevetrano, Colle Di Salerno, Campania

Montevetrano is a small zone in the hills near the commune of san cipriano picentino, not far from salerno. Fashion photographer silvia Imparato collaborated w/ famed winemaker riccardo cotarella to make a wine to enjoy w/ her friends. The result caused renown wine writer Robert Parker to stop the press printing his "wine advocate" to declare he found the Sassicaia of Southern Italy. That was the first vintage 1991. The inspiration for this blend of classic French varietals blended w/ the indigenous campanian king - Aglianico. Montevetrano is deep garnet & shows an intense bouquet of blackberries, cedar, black currant, licorice, tobacco, earth & leather. On the palate, montevetrano is full-bodied, yet elegant w/ fine-grained tannins & rich, silky texture. Montevetrano is one of the most sought-after wines from Italy.

2008 Galardi Terra Di Lavoro, Roccamonfina, Campania

The name of this praised icon wine or "land of work" in Italian, reflects the soil composition in the area which is extremely rocky, thus difficult to cultivate. Yields & overall volume are very low; only a few thousand bottles are produced each year. In this challenging environment, aglianico & its supporting grape piedirosso produce wines of incredible depth, complexity & elegance. The wine is deep purple in color w/ smoky, earthy aromas & seductive hints of tobacco & graphite. Notes of ripe black cherries, cassis, tobacco & leather come through on the palate of this big-structured, full-bodied wine.

The Italian government granted the mastroberadino family the permission to plant vines in the archeological site of the famous city of Pompei. Villa dei misteri is a Pompeian IGT (indicazione geografica tipica - typical geographical information). Grapes used are 90% piedirosso & 10% sciascinoso. Its bouquet is complex, full & persistent, spicy & fruited. Its flavour is full, balanced, structured. Only 1800 bottles produced.
